Nenni & Associates partnered with a national energy solutions company to identify and place a Chief Growth Officer capable of developing and executing a nationwide sales strategy. The client sought a proven executive with more than 15 years of sales leadership experience—someone skilled in scaling revenue, leading multi-regional teams, and integrating modern sales operations practices across a complex, fast-evolving energy services business.
The ideal candidate needed to bring not only deep industry expertise but also the ability to lead through influence, build cohesive teams, and navigate diverse procurement vehicles and state-specific legislation impacting energy projects.
This search was rooted in a longstanding relationship—spanning over 15 years—between Nenni & Associates and the client organization. Leveraging this deep familiarity with the client’s culture and business model, the search team strategically targeted talent from direct competitors within the energy solutions sector. Seven candidates were submitted, all sourced from industries including energy solutions, engineering, and adjacent ESCO competitors. Key evaluation criteria included strong cultural fit and the ability to integrate seamlessly with existing teams, mastery of multiple procurement vehicles, and a comprehensive understanding of state-level energy legislation.
After a targeted and confidential search process, two finalists were presented. The selected candidate demonstrated exceptional cultural alignment and embodied the client’s leadership philosophy, making them the clear choice.
